Round Table: From the Transformations of Production and Consumption Relations to the Global Agri-food Issue
Rede de Estudos Rurais organized a round table to discuss the contemporary transformations and dynamics of production and consumption relations, focusing on their impacts on the rural world. It addressed how the development, commodification, and financialization of natural resources were linked to commodity production, intensification, and agroindustrial concentration. In response to the challenges posed by these dynamics, alternative agri-food actors and social movements sought to redefine traditions, territories, social relations, and food systems to build sustainable practices.
Renata Motta and other experts explored how to present social representations of food risk that reflected ethical, social, and environmental values amidst widespread ignorance and poverty.
