Participation in an online-workshop on research ethics, organized by the Max-Weber-Institute

On the 12th of April, Judith Müller and Lea Loretta Zentgraf took part in an online workshop on research ethics organised by the Max-Weber-Institute at Heidelberg University. The invited speaker Olaf Tietje (LMU Munich) gave an insight into the following questions:

  • How to deal with sensitive data?
  • Different levels of empathy with research subjects (e.g. research on right-wing extremist perpetrators and victims)
  • What exactly does “anonymity” mean? How can data be anonymised if the sample is very small?
  • How can data be stored?
  • How do you deal with contradictions between legal regulations and ethical and moral issues?
