New publication: “Food politics and activist networks in the city: Reaching places food and policies don’t”

Renata Motta and Maria Eugenia Trombini have published a new article on how social movements and civil society have been key drivers of food policy innovation in Belo Horizonte, utilizing activist networks to promote food justice, influence public policy, and address urban hunger through agroecological initiatives. Drawing on decades of collaboration between state actors and civil society, this study highlights how these networks have connected marginalized areas to policymaking, while also revealing persistent challenges related to spatial inequality.
