Food for Justice at the XX ISA World Congress of Sociology in 2023

Food For Justice will participate in the XX ISA World Congress of Sociology in Melbourne (Australia). The Congress will take place in the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Center from June 25th to July 1st.

Food for Justice organized two Panels at the congress. The first panel “The Potential of Food Movements and Intersectional Food Inequalities”, organized by Marco Teixeira and Renata Motta, looks at social movements that have mobilized against injustices within the food system and built alternative food practices. The panel will invite papers working on the emancipatory potentials and limitations of food movements in addressing multiple dimensional and intersectional food inequalities.

The other panel “Food and Social Change“, organized by Renata Motta and Eloisa Martin will use food as a productive lens to understand broader social dynamics by contributing to a key theoretical debate in sociology.
