Marco Teixeira and Eryka Galindo doing fieldwork in Brazil

Marco Antonio Teixeira and Eryka Galindo carried out fieldwork in Brazil between February and April 2023. Marco Antonio Teixeira worked in Rio de Janeiro, Brasília and Manaus. He participated in events and interviewed activists engaged in the struggle for the transformation of food politics. One highlight was the participation in the organizational meeting of the Marcha das Margaridas, a national mobilization, which happens every 4 years.

On the other hand, Eryka Galindo did field research in the states of Pernambuco, Paraíba, Bahia and in the Federal District of Brazil. She focused on the analysis of the struggles for the right to water and food in the Brazilian semiarid region. Among the activities in which she was engaged, she interviewed leaders, she participated in actions developed by the Articulação do Semiárido Brasileiro (ASA) and she visited family farming production units in order to monitor the development and use of social technologies for capturing and reusing water. In addition, she also participated in one of the meetings of the National Organizing Committee of the Marcha das Margaridas 2023.
