FFJ at the POLLEN Conference

From June 10 to 12, 2024, Judith Müller participated in the POLLEN Conference in Lund, Sweden. Judith Müller presented a talk titled “Cultivating Justice – ‘Solawis’ as a Pathway to Agrarian Transformation?”. Her research explored the role of Community Supported Agricultures (Solawis) in Germany as catalysts for socio-ecological change in the agri-food sector.

Müller’s study, inspired by feminist political ecology, analyzed how Solawis serve as spaces for just agrarian transitions while being influenced by social categories. The research examined the decline of small-scale farming in the Heidelberg region and how CSA initiatives fill this void as agricultural alternatives. Through interviews and participatory observation, Müller highlighted the importance of these initiatives in promoting justice and sustainability in the global food system.
